I am directed by Lord Cushendun to enclose,
herewith, a copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Minister
at Peking regarding a petition from certain China companies
for an amendment of existing legislation so as to allow
them to keep local share registers outside China.
2. The Acting Secretary of State will be glad to learn
the views of Mr. Secretary Amery regarding this request,
and also to be informed of the principles governing the
diversity of practice referred to in paragraph 6 of the
despatch from His Majesty's Consul-General at Shanghai
